Well, this is a fairly new genre of tattoos, and it’s debatable whether this is a step forwards or backwards. While nobody can deny the incredible visuals of the video game world are excellent material for tattoos, with bright colours and cartoon-like styles, is it really a good idea to dedicate your arm to Sonic the Hedgehog, forever? Hmmm…

Some very nice work over at Obscurities Tattoos & Piercings, including the incredible phoenix as seen below…

Phoenix Tattoo
We came across this really cool design on flickr.com.

Great little tattoo design!
It’s a great little loose design that uses skin space really well – not too much ink makes it really effective.

Hate Heart Modern Traditional Tattoo Flash Design Available for Purchase and Instant Download
There’s yet another addition to the tattoo flash shop, in the form of a
traditional old school ‘hate heart’ tattoo flash design. This is an old classic that’s been given a modern update, making it a truly indispensible design! The line art is included along with the full colour artwork and also included is a version without text, adding to it’s versatility!
This design makes a really cool companion to the love heart design. It would be an ideal pair of designs suitable for opposing shoulder blades, pecs, hands, feet, neck etc!

There’s no doubt that swallows and the whole old school tattoo aesthetic are well and truly back in fashion. There’s no shortage of swallow designs doing the rounds at the minute, but these gorgeous designs from Toni Moore at Modern Body Art are the best we’ve seen in a long time – truly graphic and illustrative and she has a great eye for colour. There’s plenty more on offer at the website from other artists too, making it a goldmine of inspiration!

Amazing Swallows by Toni Moore
This is a great post by one of my favourite artists. Although he’s not a tattoo artist, a lot of his designs are very tattoo inspired in their symmetry and iconic feel. This blog post shows the whole process from client brief through acquiring references to design and completion of the tattoo, which was a private commission. Very interesting post and a great design at the end of it!
